I must say that one of the most common inefficiencies in many dental offices I have encountered is recall (also known as recare). An automated recall system is often the least understood and most underutilized tool within the Easy Dental software. The Easy Dental recall tool is quick to customize, simple to implement and creates an efficiency for tracking recalls that is unmatched by any paper documentation system.
Know When Your Patient Is Due
The Easy Dental recall system can help your team to very quickly confirm when your patient is due for routine procedures. Let’s say a patient calls the office to request an appointment. With a single click in the appointment window, your team can view due dates for prophy, X-rays and any other recalls you have linked to your patient. The date displayed next to each recall is the next time your patient should receive that treatment.
But How Does Easy Dental Know?
Earlier, I mentioned that the recall system was quick to customize. When you first implement an automated recall system, you should take the time to decide how often your patients will receive care. For example, you might set your prophylaxis recall to a six-month interval. The next step is to link the prophy recall to your patient. Finally, set complete a prophy for this patient and watch their due date change. It’s that easy!
A Tool to Analyze the Number of Patients Not Scheduled
The number one reason to actively use your recall (in my book) is to know when patients are due for routine procedures. The number two reason is to be able to generate a list of patients that are due (or overdue!) for routine procedures and not scheduled for an appointment. With quick and easy access to a list of patients not scheduled, your team could fill open time in the schedule with ease.
We scratched the surface on recall today. Trust me when I say there is more to come! In the meantime, want to review your recall setup? Contact your Easy Dental trainer today to discuss remote or in-office training options.
